About Me

I’m an editorial and communications leader with more than two decades of experience helping organizations navigate moments that matter: breaking news, institutional milestones, cultural change and digital transformation.
My career began in San Francisco Bay Area newsrooms, where I learned the enduring value of accuracy, urgency and public trust. Over time, my work expanded beyond daily coverage into strategy, leadership and systems design: building teams, launching platforms and developing storytelling approaches that serve audiences while advancing organizational mission.
Today, my work sits at the intersection of journalism, strategic communications and technology.
What I Do
I help organizations communicate clearly and credibly by aligning:
- Editorial judgment and ethical standards
- Audience insight and engagement strategy
- Technology, data and emerging tools
I’ve led teams across print, broadcast, digital and higher education, overseeing content strategy, managing cross-functional collaborations, and mentoring professionals and students alike. My approach emphasizes clarity over noise, purpose over performance-chasing, and trust over short-term wins.
Whether the goal is informing the public, telling an institutional story, or navigating complex change, I focus on communication strategies that are sustainable, human-centered and mission-driven.
How I Think About Storytelling
I believe storytelling is a form of service.
That belief has guided my work across a wide range of formats — from breaking news and public safety coverage to commencement storytelling, interactive data projects and cultural exploration. I’ve used tools such as: livestreams, interactive maps, dashboards and emerging AI systems — not for novelty, but to help audiences better understand the world around them.
Some of my most meaningful work has involved designing storytelling systems: frameworks that allow information to evolve responsibly over time, particularly in fast-moving or high-stakes situations.
Leadership and Collaboration
I’ve led creative teams in both high-pressure newsroom environments and collaborative institutional settings. My leadership style is grounded in:
- Clear expectations
- Psychological safety
- Data-informed (not data-dominated) decision-making
- Respect for both craft and people
I believe strong leadership creates space for experimentation while protecting standards, teams and audiences.
Recognition and Impact
My work has been recognized with multiple awards, reflecting not just individual projects but sustained excellence in strategy, execution and collaboration. While recognition is never the goal, it’s often a signal that values, process and outcomes are aligned.
What I Value
I’m drawn to roles that prioritize thoughtful leadership, strategic communication and public-facing impact, particularly in strategic communications, higher education, media and related fields.
This site is a space to share my work, my thinking and the principles that guide how I lead and build. If you’re interested in where storytelling, strategy and trust intersect, you’re in the right place.
